Day 1: Arrive Beijing Upon arrival in Beijing you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Tonight meet your tour leader (or local guide) for welcome drinks and a tour briefing. Hotel: Novotel Xinqiao - 4 nights Day 2: Beijing Explore Beijing's fascinating hutongs by rickshaw, visit the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and the Drum Tower. Day 3: Beijing See the Great Wall at Mutianyu with fewer tourists than other sites. Day 4: Beijing Visit the Temple of Heaven, Planning Exhibition Hall and Summer Palace before taking the overnight train to Xian. Day 5: Xian Fly to Xian and enjoy the colourful Muslim Quarter, city wall and pagodas. Hotel: UAA Hotel - 2 nights Day 6: Xian See the Terracotta Warriors. Day 7: Xian to Guilin Fly to Guilin to climb Fubo Hill and visit the Chinese Medicine Institute. Day 9: Guilin to Yangshuo Take a river cruise through the beautiful limestone mountains set on the banks of the Li River, an inspiration to poets and painters for centuries. Hotel: Yangshuo Regency - 2 nights Day 10: Yangshuo Cycle through Yangshuo's verdant rice paddies and absorb this quaint town's atmosphere and culture. Day 11: Yangshuo to Yangtze River Start the day with a relaxing tai chi lesson before flying from Guilin to Chongqing to board your cruise ship. Hotel: Victoria Grace - 3 nights Days 12-13: Yangtze River Cruise away from busy Chongqing and enjoy views of passing boats and stunning gorges. Day 14: Yangtze River to Shanghai The dam is an incredible undertaking that will leave you in awe. This morning, visit the Three Gorges Dam Site on shore before disembarking from the ship and travelling on to Shanghai. Hotel: Park Hotel - 4 nights Day 15: Shanghai Experience the regal Bund, Yu Gardens, Shanghai Museum and Urban Planning Exhibition Centre. Day 16: Shanghai Enjoy a day-trip to Zhujiajiao, visit the Jade Buddha Temple and see a spectacular acrobatics performance. Day 17: Shanghai Learn about the ancient practice of Feng Shui, visit the Propaganda Poster Arts Centre and explore the Old Chinese Quarter.
