Guide to Khao Lak & Hotels
Khao Lak, which is located on the west coast of Thailand, to the north of Phuket, is an area of outstanding beauty. Pure white beaches, cascading waterfalls, spectacular primary forest, idyllic lagoons and magnificent mangroves abound. The Similan and Surin Islands National Park, one of the world’s top 10 dive sites, is less than an hour away by boat from Khao Lak. |
Travel
Khao Lak is a one hour drive from Phuket Airport. We can arrange for you to be met on arrival and transferred by private, air conditioned car directly to the resort of your choice. From £30 per person.
Activities
The Similan Islands National Park are nine uninhabitated and magnificently green islands that lie parallel to the mainland and home to many land and marine species. A day tour is highly recommended, for both divers and non-divers alike. Experienced divers will appreciate the crystal clear waters and colourful reef. Non-divers can relax on the beautiful sandy beaches. There are a number of nature tours to explore the interior of the Khao Lak region. Elephant rides and rafting are just some of the activities available. There are a number of deserted beaches in the area, ideal for long walks.
When to go
Khao Lak enjoys warm weather all year round. From November through to March temperatures are around 25-32°C with cool breezes making this one of the most popular periods for visitors. The hottest months are April and May with temperatures reaching 36°C. June to October is the rainy season with brief, but heavy showers mixed with sunshine. |
