Khao Lak luxury beach hotel: The Sarojin
Guide to Taiwan
The beautiful island of Taiwan, lies just over 110 miles to the east of China. A country of modern, cosmopolitan cities, traditional temples, hot springs and spectacular mountain scenery. Enjoy the contrast between the frenetic 24-hour pace of Taipei, with its cloud-piercing Taipei 101 Tower and the natural beauty of the countryside.
Getting there
EVA Air offer direct flights daily from London Heathrow to Taipei (Taoyuan International Airport). Flight duration is approximately 16 hours with a touch down in Bangkok en route.

Guide to the country
Located in East Asia, Taiwan is a narrow and long island in the north-eastern
corner of the Pacific Ocean. Taiwan and its affiliated islands possess a truly one of a kind natural beauty. It has varied terrain, spectacular forestry, rich agricultural resources and a precious marine ecosystem, not to mention unique ethnic and cultural customs. The capital, Taipei with its impressive 101 Tower is a must-see. To the south take in the history of Tainan with its myriad of temples. Escape the cities with a stay at Sun Moon Lake. Taiwan is a must-see destination and an unforgettable experience!

When to go
Most visitors from Europe favour October to March when the climate is generally warm and dry for most parts of Taiwan. The highest rainfall occurs during the summer months from June to September, which can also be the typhoon season. Summers are hot and humid with temperatures in Taipei around 30ºC. In winter temperatures drop to around 18ºC, but this is a great time to appreciate the beautifully coloured maple trees.

Important to note
British passport holders can stay for up to 90 days in Taiwan without a visa. Your passport should be valid for a minimum period of six months from the date of entry into Taiwan. Please consult your local doctor for any vaccination requirements. The currency is the New Taiwan Dollar. The official language of Taiwan is Mandarin Chinese. But English is widely-spoken.
