Getting there
Japan Airlines and ANA All Nippon Airways offer direct flights from the UK, linking with several Japanese cities. British Airways also have a daily scheduled service directly to Tokyo. Japan is also accessible via most major Asian cities. The flying time from the UK is approximately 11 hours.

When to go
The best time to visit Japan is during spring, from March through to May. During this time the temperature is pleasant and the famous cherry blossom trees are usually in blossom in the latter part of March. Summer, from June through to August, can be hot. June and July are generally the wettest months with monsoon rainfall. Winter, from December to January can be very cold, with snowfall possible.

Visas are not required for UK passport holders. Japan is nine hours ahead of GMT. The currency is Yen. Vaccinations are not required for Japan, but for any recommended vaccinations please contact your local doctor.
