Guide to Hua Hin & Hotels
Hua Hin is closely associated with Thai royalty and located on the sunrise side of the Thai Gulf, some three hours southwest of Bangkok. Essentially Hua Hin is a quiet and relaxing seaside resort with a fine stretch of sandy beach and a host of attractions nearby such as national parks and historical sites. Six of the country’s best golf courses are within easy reach. |
Travel
Hua Hin is located approximately 106 miles from Bangkok. We can arrange for you to be met on arrival at Bangkok Airport for an immediate private car transfer to your Hua Hin accommodation, from £36 per person. There are flights from Bangkok to Hua Hin, but the service is unpredictable, so we recommend a land transfer.
Attractions
Phra Nakhon Khiri (Khao Wang) is a spectacular palace, dating back to 1869, set on a hill with impressive views. It features a Chedi, not unlike that of those seen at the Grand Palace in Bangkok. The railway station is worth a look as it reflects the history of the town with its impressive royal waiting room. There is a fine choice of beaches all along this coast.
When to go
September through to February is generally the best time to visit Hua Hin, when the skies are clear and it’s less humid. Temperatures don’t vary too greatly throughout the year; usually between 27°C and 35°C. The rainy season is from April to August and, although humid, Hua Hin is not as hot as Bangkok due to the cooling sea breezes wafting off the Gulf of Thailand.
