Travel Hoi An and Hue are both accessed via the growing airport of Danang, in central Vietnam, which has direct flights from both Saigon and Hanoi. Phan Thiet is around 125 miles north of Saigon, a three-and-a-half hour drive. Nha Trang’s nearest gateway is Cam Ranh Airport, 25 miles to the south. Cam Ranh Airport has scheduled flights from Saigon and Hanoi. The island of Phu Quoc has four direct flights a day from Saigon. Can Tho, in the Mekong Delta, is reached via Can Tho Airport, a 20- minute drive. For Sapa, take a train from Hanoi to Lao Cai Station and then by road for 28 miles. November to April are drier months but can be cool especially in the north. Temperatures during May to October tend to average around 24°C- 33°C in the north, 23°C-25°C in central Vietnam and 24°C-31°C in the south.
